Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution means celebrating the role that music and culture played in it. Using the concept of intervention music, The BJazz Choir has conceived a unique show in which they revisit Zeca Afonso classics such as "Vejam Bem", "Grândola, Vila Morena" and "Balada de Outono", transporting them to contemporary reality with exclusive premiere arrangements by Tiago Simães (the collective's artistic director). Protest poetry also takes to the stage, with a set of original songs created from the poetry of leading authors (such as Natália Correia or Maria Teresa Horta). Always with jazz as a backdrop and exploring the potential of improvisation - as is the hallmark of the work of this choir with over a decade of proven experience. Singing April, yes, but today: without crystallising memories and integrating the struggles that emerge from an increasingly polarised society. Because singing is how we understand each other.
