"The development of Joane and Ribeirão, along the last 36 years, was clearly impelled by the vivacity and unity of its people", said Mário Passos, Mayor of the Municipal Council, during the solemn evocative sessions of elevation to village that took place yesterday in the referred parishes. Regarding the future of the Small-Towns in celebration, the mayor of Famalicão says, "I am sure that they will continue on this path of success, in perfect harmony with the City Hall".
"Over the last few years, the Town of Joane had a remarkable evolution", said António Oliveira, President of Joane. "It is obvious what Joane has achieved in the last few years, but we want more, we want more investment", highlights the President. Regarding future projects, besides the projection of roads, namely the revitalization of Avenida da Restauração, António Oliveira highlights the intention of structuring projects, such as "the Family Health Unit, the Multipurpose Room and the Parish Hall, among other spaces that we intend to recondition".
In Ribeirão, the President of the Parish, Leonel Rocha, pointed out that "we need to look at Ribeirão, not only as a parish, but also as a strategic point in the development of Vila Nova de Famalicão". The mayor also commented on the need for investment in the reinforcement of road networks, namely the connections of the industrial area of Sam to the EN14, and called for "strategic investments for the development of people (...) in the cultural, educational and sports areas".
The intentions of growth of both territories, namely through the improvement of the infrastructural conditions of the Small-Towns, is shared by the Mayor of Famalicão, who pointed out that "we will continue to overcome deficits (...) we will continue to develop efforts to ensure good conditions of equipment for the community, the main driver of the territory's development".
