The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão sought today to sensitize the Minister of Internal Administration for the problem of the lack of conditions of the GNR of Riba de Ave headquarters.
Mário Passos took advantage of the presence of José Luís Carneiro in Famalicão, for the inauguration of the new Campus of Civil Protection, to remind that the transfer of GNR to the old firemen's headquarters of Riba de Ave, whose building was acquired by the City Hall, it only didn't happen because the cooperation protocol between the local authority and the Government for the cession of space to the Ministry of Internal Administration hasn't been signed yet.
The mayor highlighted the "total collaboration spirit" of the local authority with the national instances to raise the quality of public services and pointed out the GNR of Riba de Ave issue as a "good example" of that attitude. "We are talking about a central historical building in Riba de Ave, with a high patrimonial value, which we are available to cede free of charge to the national administration to solve the problem of the lack of conditions of the GNR in the village", he said.
Mário Passos asked for the same attention in relation to the posts of PSP and GNR of Vila Nova de Famalicão, which need an "urgent" intervention of infrastructural requalification.
The mayor pointed to security and help to citizens as an "absolute priority" for the City of Famalicão. "We are among the Chambers of the country that invests the most in Municipal Civil Protection, but we can't do everything alone. The Central Administration has to assume its responsibilities, knowing that it can count on our total openness".
In his reply, the Minister showed total availability for "dialogue with the local authorities" and sensitivity towards the problems of the communities.
